T he Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been sharing photos of their daughter Lilibet’s first birthday party:
But is putting in all the time, money and effort worth it?
Properly not, in my opinion because at such a young age they won’t remember it or understand what’s going on.
I do apricate, however, that for first time parents every milestone is important.
I have even heard of parents throwing a one year party for their child as a celebration that they have kept the child alive and healthy!
It can also become a competition between parents as to whoose baby had the best party.
When my children were 1 I hosted a small tea party for family members and we took photos of our children with their birthday presents, which we often looked at and talked about with the children as they grew up.
.
I always made a birthday cake for my son’s no matter how old they were ( which my husband always laughed at!).
Birthday parties home or away here
Did you throw a party for your child’s first birthday?
As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

The first birthday is not for them, it’s for you. And that’s okay. So if you want to celebrate having a life-altering year and enjoying it, then go to town! I think the more celebrations the better, because we get so ground down into mundane patterns. #Dreamteam
I agree, with your thinking, Lydia, thanks for stopping by with your comment
We did have parties for our one year olds, but with the awareness that the party was really more about taking a picture and including the grandparents! 😁
That’s similar to how we did it, Michele, thanks for sharing
I was dead set on having a Blues Clues party for mine at her first birthday, not really understanding that we had been watching re-runs and that there really wasn’t any decorations available for her favorite show. Spent a fortune on e bay just because I’m a big, stubborn dummy #dreamteam
Ha! sounds great though,Jeremy, thanks for taking the time to read and leave your experience
We always have family parties and sometimes they are bigger events but I’ve never gone crazy especially for 1st birthdays. I don’t like cake smashes as I do feel they are a waste of money and food. Thanks for linking up with #DreamTeam
I’m with you on the cake smash, Laura, another crazy fad from the U.S.A,
