ichild have sent a selection of activities suitable for celebrating bonfire night:-
The gunpowder, treason and plot: This is an account of why we celebrate bonfire night, there are questions on the front page for parents/practitioners to ask the children once the story has been shared, which is explained quite simply.
Big, bigger and biggest firework:
Is exactly ‘what it says on the tin’ children can be encouraged to talk and learn about size and position in this simple activity and then colour the fireworks.
Practitioners could instruct the children in using colour, for example, colour the middle firework red, or colour the stars of the biggest firework yellow, alternatively children can decorate as they please.
Add the fireworks:
A simple counting exercise to learn about numbers and first experience of addition, again the fireworks can be coloured.
ichild have several bonfire colouring sheets that children will enjoy once again these can be used to promote learning in early years settings.
Bonfire night crossword:
Older children will enjoy this simple crossword, the answers are at the bottom of the page and can be folded to make them out of sight.
Bonfire night word search:
There are 13 bonfire related words to find, again the answers are at the bottom of the page.
All of the above activities and more can be downloaded from
www.ichild.co.uk
They will be an asset to parents and carers as a way of keeping children entertained in an educational way, plus as many are free makes them even better.
As always questions/comments are welcome.
Until next time.
