Cost of living crisis children’s days out and activities

With the current cost of living crisis , parents and carers will be looking for cheap days out and activities for their children:

Young pre school age children are pretty easy to occupy on a day out, in my experience, a simple visit to a play park with a picnic or ice cream is always popular. We used to take bread with us to feed the ducks in my local park. Older children could be given a list of things to find on a scavenger hunt type of thing to keep them busy.

For any early years practitioners, attractions will often offer a discount on entrance fees if you ask nicely!

Make use of the library as well as being able to borrow books for free libraries often offer children’s activities too, sometimes for free or just a small amount of money.

As do museums which can be educational to children too.

I regularly took my minded children to the local garden centre where we could easily spend a few hours looking around at the plants and flowers and any children who had pets enjoyed the pet section too. Most garden centres have a cafe where you can have refreshments using up more of your day.

There are more ideas and suggestions in my earlier post on cheap days out here

I have also written an e book on easy children’s crafts and activities to do at home available to download from Amazon here

As always questions, comments and topic suggestions are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. Thank you so much for this post,Karen.I xan now spend some time having fun with my children, without stressing about the cost

  2. I used to do all these things with my children when they were small and so much more. One way to save money was to always take snacks and drinks out everywhere we went. Thanks for linking up with #pocolo
