Disney On Ice/Fit to Dance

I was invited to attend the Disney on ice event at Westpoint in Exeter

As. I am a wheelchair user a building with suitable assess was essential. Westpoint was perfect and easy for my son to push my wheelchair around.

We had a great view of the rink from our seats (even for me as my wheelchair is sometimes lower than the other audience seats at venues).

The 2 girls who came along with us were excited about seeing their favourite Disney characters, the music and lighting made the show really magical and we all sang along while clapping our hands.

.

If you are a fan of Disney ( and let’s face it, who isn’t?) or a parent then the Disney characters will be very familiar even to adults

The girls that we took with us were aged 2 and 8 and both thoroughly enjoyed the performance. I was a little concerned beforehand that the younger child may find it a little overwhelming, but she was totally engrossed by it.

Disclosure: I was gifted 2 adult and 2 children’s tickets for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

I highly recommend Disney on Ice to everyone, my favourite characters were the Disney princesses because I am still a little girl at heart and seeing them took me back to a happy childhood.

FIT TO DANCE:

Disney have a Fit to Dance campaign which goes along side Disney On Ice, the idea is to encourage children to be fit and healthy ( which is great as reports are saying that children are becoming overweight due to life styles).

In association with ichild Disney have produced a Fit to Damce education programme.

.

this includes a pocket size fit to dance excerise book.

Which gives children ideas to come up with their own story and dance after being inspired by watching the Disney on ice show ( hopefully incorporating  some of the spins and jumps performed by the skaters). The book also comes with a completion sticker sheet, to stick in the book as rewards when each task is completed.

My favourite activity in the Fit to Dance booklet is the tell your own Mickey and friend’s story where there are images of some favourite Disney characters to cut out and make finger puppets  to use in a show of your own, this will encourage children to use their imagination and will also help to develop communication and language  skills in younger children.

For more information on the fit to dance scheme visit here.

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. My daughter in law and grand daughter are booked to see Disney on Ice for Christmas – I’m so jealous, I’ve never seen a panto on ice. So important to introduce children to wonderful live theatre and allow them to appreciate it all when young. So pleased you had such a fabulous time.

  2. I really want to see this and keep saying so and not doing anything about it – must change that #AnythingGoes

  3. I’m not actually a huge Disney fan myself, BUT I still think I’d enjoy Disney on ice, and I especially love the look of that dragon! Also really like the Fit to Dance initiative, as I believe dancing is great not only for our physical health, but also our mental health 🙂 x #KidsandKreativity
