As I have worked with this publishing house in the past, they have kindly sent me the following children’s books to review.

THE TALES OF JACKAROO:

Jack is an abandoned puppy, who is sad and afraid; that is until a family of kangaroos find him and give him a loving home.

This delightful book is based on the author’s own dog, Jack.

There are bright, vibrant illustrations on every page providing opportunities for discussion that children will love.

This book retails at £7.99 and is aimed at children aged 4 to 5 years, although I feel that a wider age range could benefit and enjoy it if shared with an adult

The tales of Jackaroo is written and illustrated by Janet, Emma and Seren Hylton.

When Anna hurts her leg after an accident on the trampoline and she needs an x-ray Anna, s is afraid that this will hurt .With some kind, reassuring words from her mother and the radiographer she manages to get through the procedure.

The book could be used as a tool for preparing children for a trip to the hospital : There is a great ‘magic’ poem that children can learn in the text which could help those who are anxious about anything in life

Again this book has some wonderful illustrations on every page.

At the back there is a useful QR code for learning more about x-rays.

Anna’s magic x-ray is written and illustrated by Jenny Buchanan.

It retails at £9.99 and is aimed at children aged5 to 7 years of age.

MINXIE’S MOST MAGICAL, MARVELLOUS,MITCHELL STREET TREE

:

This book is written in rhythming text and is longer than the above books. It is full of magic and wonder that will delight children. The illustrations on every page are exceptional.

This book is written by Puffing Billy D.

It is aimed at children aged5 to 7 years old and retails at£7.99

THE LITTLE GIRL WHO WANTED TO STAY AT HOME:

I love the message that this tale gives out; that getting out and about rather than staying indoors in front of a screen can be so much fun and good for our health too.

The bright illustrations provide endless opportunities for children to develop communication and language skills.

The book is written by Jolanta Olchowicz and the illustrations are drawn by Nina Zakharowa.

It’s aimed at children aged4 to 5 years old and retails at £7.99

SAM AND HIS TWO BIRDS:

This sweet book tells the story of Sam and the 2 birds who live in a tree in his garden and how they help him to discover how magical life can be.

Find out what happened when one of the birds was lost.

The text is rhythming and the colourful illustrations cover every page!

The book is written and illustrated by Neha Lohia

Sam and his two birds retails at£14.99 and is aimed towards children aged 6 to 9 years

MINKA AND THE MOUSE

This tale teaches children that friends can come in all shapes and sizes ( something that we could all benefit from understanding!)

What will happen when Minka the kitten catches a house mouse?

The book is written and illustrated by Sabine Garve and retails at £8.99 and is recommended for children aged 4 to 5 years old, although I do feel that younger children would enjoy and benefit from sharing the book with an adult.

GREEK MYTHS RETOLD IN MYRTHFUL VERSE:

This is a much longer book than the others and tells of Greek Gods, Goddesses, heroes and heroines in a new way ;rhyming poems which adults will understand in one form and older children on a different level!

Mark Abbott has cleverly written the book that retails for £8.99 and is aimed at children aged6 to 9 years.

Disclosure: I was sent the books for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

I am recommending all of these books to parents and carers as with the wide age ranges and prices there is something for everyone.

As always questions and comments are welcome,

Until next time.
