During this period of lock down, for many of us, the kitchen has been a place where we can fill some of the long hours and do some cooking, even dig a few of our recipe books out and have a go at making some new culinary creations.
But for some of us, the food preparation side of cooking, can be difficult and put us off actually starting, it’s a bit of a let-down, to be defeated by a tightly fitted lid on a jar, stopping you right when you’re in full flow!
Daily Living Aids come in handy particularly in the kitchen, and not just for the elderly or those with mobility problems. There are probably areas of difficulty for virtually anybody in the kitchen, so anything that can lighten the load and make things easier is welcome.
Kitchen aids can help in so many ways, and here we’ll take a look at what’s out there to make your foray into the kitchen easier and more rewarding – as well as being safer.
The Homecraft Kitchen Workstation is a multi-functional kitchen aid that really takes the hard work out of virtually any food prep task, freeing up the hands and holding everything in place while you cut, slice, peel and dice.
This innovative food preparation aid has been designed to help users with many every-day kitchen tasks. Perfect for those suffering from arthritis as well as being ideal for elderly or disabled users, this Kitchen Workstation features a removable grater and slicer, raised L shape in the corner to hold bread while spreading, stainless steel spikes that securely holds bread, fruit or veg when slicing, chopping or peeling.
We all know that when dealing with boiling water, for drinks, or as part of our cooking ingredients, can be potentially hazardous. Using a normal kettle can be dangerous, especially if the grip is not as it used to be, or of you are recuperating from injury, or suffer from arthritis and you don’t have the strength in your hands.
Help comes in the form of the Universal Kettle Tipper, this device makes pouring from your normal kitchen kettle much easier and safer as it does all the hard work for you, taking the full weight of the kettle, so you only have to lever it over to pour into a cup or other container.
The kettle tipper has been specially designed to be compatible with most kettle types including standard, cordless and jug kettles. For added safety the kettle will rock back into the upright position if the user lets go during use, making this product an excellent disability aid.
The ergonomic and lightweight design, as well as it’s clean white styling, allows the kettle tipper to fit in easily with your kitchen design style, so it does its job unobtrusively, while keeping you safe and avoiding wrist strain when lifting or pouring – one simple lever does it all.
As mentioned earlier, it can sometimes be irritating and even downright frustrating to be defeated by a tightly fitting lid or bottle top, especially when you may not have another person in the house to ask to remove it for you.
The Standard Multi Opener is one of those kitchen gadgets that once you have it, you probably wouldn’t want to go back to being without it! It’s just one of those tools that you instinctively reach for, even for the opening of jar lids and bottle tops of normal tightness, because it makes the task so easy and saves time and energy.
Highly versatile, the Standard Multi-Opener can be used to open pressure sealed caps, resealable twist-off bottle caps, ring pull cans and jar lids – basically all of your opening tasks all-in-one!
Coming in at under a fiver, we think it’s well worth the investment and one you’ll definitely get the most value from in your kitchen.
After your cooking spree in the kitchen, you’ll probably be ready for a brew, and now how about getting all of that taste from your tea bag, but without the big squeeze?
The TeaTool Tea Bag Squeezer does exactly what it says, helping you get the full flavour from your tea bag, whether that be normal white or black tea, or even your herbal blends.
This simple tool make it safer and easier, as actually many spills and accidents come from when you’re trying to squeeze against the side of your mug or tea pot, to the point where it can fly off the worktop, not least, giving you an unwanted tidy up job.
Coming in at under a tenner, again, another wise move in your kitchen task-busting.

Brilliant blog, I have arthritis in my right shoulder and I find lots of every day tasks difficult. I especially like the idea of the kettle, I have to use my left hand for using one and always fearful of an accident
I’m not much of a gadget person, but these look very helpful.
Those are some useful tools. I could use the tea one since I love tea.
Great gadgets that can only help. There are so many things out there that we can find with a bit of research. I remember visiting a centre for the visually impaired once when applying for a job there and they had so many items available that were quite fascinating and helpful in everyday life #GlobalBlogging
I have several gadgets but my favourites are a pickled onion grabber and a jar opener! Thanks for linking up with #globalblogging
I really struggle with jars, peeling and slicing due to nerve damage. I have a jar/bottle opener my Gran gave me many years ago. We need to get our kitchen taps changed to mixer ones as I’m struggling to turn them off properly. Thanks for linking to #pocolo and hope to see you back later this week
I will be back next week for sure, thanks for stopping by
I like that work topper one. That would be great for kids too, to learn and help. I hate opening jars, and bottles as well. Thanks for linking up to #stayclassymama
I like the teabag squeezer! Maybe a random present for someone later this year 🙂 Thanks for linking up with #stayclassymama
