A registered child minderwas asking for tips on this subject on social media.

When I was working as a registered child minder, I had a system that worked for me and the children,

We would tidy away the toys, by making it fun.

I said “What time is it?” and the children would answer “Tidy up time”

We also made up a tidy up song..

I was very fortunate in having an 8 year old girl in my care, named Laura who loved to help me, she was also very caring towards the younger children.

When it was time to put our shoes and coats on The little ones would pick up their shoes and sit on my stairs

.

Laura would help them to put on their shoes and the next child would move down a step!

Then she would help them to put on and do up their coats.

If we were going somewhere, such as the park for a picnic each child would carry heir own bag containing their packed lunch

.

I asked the parents to provide food for their child.

Should child minders provide food for children here

Obviouly not every setting will have a Laura in their care, but making getting ready to go out fun, it should happen quickly.

Please share any tips that you have for getting out the door quickly when you have multiple childre.
