Lockdown children’s party ideas

During the lockdown, children’s parties, like most other events, need to be a little different, These are my ideas:

Get everyone in the family to dress up in a theme of the child’s choice.

Ask friends and other family members to send cards and birthday wishes, so the child still feels special on their day.

Hire a bouncy castle, for one, if necessary: When my son was 2 we hired a small bouncy castle that we had in the playroom which was a great sucess.

Make an indoor bowling game, from plastic bottles.

Have a tea party: This could be in the form of a teddy bear’s picnic for stuffed animals and dolls to make the guest list longer while still being covid19 safe.

Have a pinnate, full of sweets and small gifts.

Make a treasure hunt( indoors or outside if the weather allows) with clues for the child to follow to find their birthday presents.

Have an extra special birthday cake, as the party will be less expensive, maybe more money could be spent on the birthday cake, than in other years.

And finally explain to the child that next year when it is safe they will be able to have their usual birthday party celebration again.

Please share any lockdown children’s party ideas that you have with me.

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. I like the idea of hiring a small bouncy castle. I think a lot of the time children don’t really know they’ve missed a birthday as such, I think as parents we feel guilty because we haven’t done a party like in previous years but I think as long as a child has had a fun, exciting day they don’t always realise they’ve ‘missed out’

  2. Great ideas – we hired a bouncy castle for the garden for the twigs’ 5th birthday last summer and it was fab, they loved it! 🙂 #KCACOLS

  3. Brilliant ides I especially liked the idea of the treasure hunt for presents instead of just giving them out,

  4. I hadn’t thought about getting a bouncy castle what a great idea and how much would the kids love having one to themselves! #MischiefAndMemories

  5. My 4yr old daughter recently saw a photo from her big brothers birthday party when we hired the biggest pepper pig bouncy castle, so of course she keeps asking for the same one but even bigger on her birthday xx #MischiefAndMemories

  6. We’ve all had one birthday in lockdown and it is looking liekly that the next one will be too or it will be a scaled back event in any case. We usually have a tea party for birthdays anyway so we will probably do this during lockdown too. Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories

  7. I love the idea of hiring a bouncy castle. One of my friends ordered a doorstep performer for her daughter’s birthday. Elsa sang all of her hit songs and the girls absolutely loved it. Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS. Hope you come back again next time.
