Explaining about the death of a family member, including the loss of a pet, to children can be extremely difficult for parents, especially if they too are grieving.
This beautifully written book could be the answer to this for parents, carers and other adults.
The author wrote the book based on his own exigence of loosing a parent.
The book also briefly explains about heaven, some heaven quotes and that the lost one is always looking down at them.
Every page contains a bright, colourful illustration.
Disclosure: I was gifted the book for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.
I absolutely love everything about this book, it would have been a great tool when we lost our beloved German dog and my son was quite young. It would have helped the children who I was caring for as a registered child minder at the time too, as they were very fond of my dog.
Look up is written by John Allen and retails at£11.99, it is aimed at children aged 3-12 years.

As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

Thank you for reviewing my book. I am so glad that you found it be to helpful for grieving children who have lost a loved one. Children are often referred to as the forgotten or invisible grievers. Children’s grief is not always displayed outwardly. Internally they could be overwhelmed with the emotional and sometimes physical pain. The feedback that I am receiving for my book ‘Look Up’ has been amazing. I am so grateful that my book is helping others cope with grief. If anyone has any questions, please post on here or you can reach me via my website. Thank you ❤️🙏
You are very welcome Rich, I enjoy reviewing good children’s books ( as a former early years practitioner, I feel that I know what children will like and Benefit from in literature )
I was completely shut out when my Dad died. Yes, it was nearly 50 years ago now, but I so wish my family had talked to me as a child rather than keep it all from me and not allowing me to grieve like the adults. Thank you for writing such an important story.
Thanks for sharing your very personal experience, Raisie
What a lovely book! I’ll have to check it out!
It certainly certainly s,Laura, thanks for your feedback
As a child who lost her father at a very young age I think these books are very important. This looks like the perfect way to explain to a child such an awful situation.
Thanks for leaving your thoughts, which I agree with, Raisie
We’ve recently experienced grief with the death of our dog and our 4 year old grand daughter was very close to the dog. We prepared her with discussions around death as the dog aged. A book like this would have been useful. Thanks for linking with #pocolo, sorry for the delay with commenting
