The author of these wonderful books is prepared to work with schools, libraries and early years settings to provide free books in return for a donation to this very worthy cause https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/eb-childrenbook/sam-and-sophies-cricket-challenge?ref=5o2qtv&fbclid=IwY2xjawMEEktleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHngsFXPf0zJ31TWhrsVPNuhSAkmd7Y_P–vqB0xOXqT_2sJjX-5eGhd4zn3l_aem_qedwBmO2Zj795pQlBgjzdg

I was sent the first 2 books in this series of children’s books:

SOPHIE AND SAM’S RAINY DAY TREAT:

Sophie and Sam are twins who get on very well together, but what are they going to do on a very wet day?

Luckily their busy mum ,has an idea of what they can do.

Read how they turn a wet, miserable day into a fun afternoon .

The book has some bright, colourful illustrations, throughout.

Harley, the 9 year old who helped with this review, said that the illustrations are true to life as mum is doing the ironing!

The book celebrates culture diversity , including a British afternoon tea and has a strong British-Filipino culture.

At the back of the book there is a page for children to colour

.

SAM AND SOPHIE AT THE FESTIVAL:

Again this book celebrates the magic of British-Filipino culture and the twins experience the joy of tasting their grandmother’s cooking of traditional Filipino dishes.

At a festival they learn more about the Filipino traditions of dance.

Both books are written by York Arthur Baldwin

The beautiful illustrations are by Ingrid Orlando Zon.

Disclosure: I was gifted the books for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own, or Harleys ( who I would like to thank for helping with this review).

As a former outstanding Ofsted registered childminder I fully understand how important it is for settings to have multicultural books and resources available to children so everyone feels included in societ

.,Therefore I can’t praise them highly enough.

Both books retail at £7.99 and are aimed at children aged 4 to 10 years

There is also an ebook for £2.99

The author is also kindly willing to give away free audiobooks to the first 20 people to request, them perfect for travelling or something to listen to in the background while playing.

Buy them herehttps://mangoandmarmaladestories.com/

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time

Karen
