Readers will know that I have recently started a new hobby; glass painting while sitting in my wheelchair.
My mum was delighted with the coaster that I gave her for a big birthday
last year.
So I decided to have a go at making her something for mother’s day too:
First of all the glass to be painted needs to be washed in soapy water to remove any grease and fingerprints ( otherwise the paint won’t take to these areas.
Find a suitable stencil: I downloaded mine from the internet, then place it inside the glass holding in place with blue-tack.
I place a sock inside the glass too to really press the stencil against the glass.
I paint using pens rather than pots of paint as I only have one working hand (since stroke) and the pens are easy to use with the glass laid on my lap.
To make the paint proof it needs to be baked in an oven,
Place in a cold oven then leave to bake at 177 centigrade for 30 minutes, Turn the oven off and leave it to cool down completely before removing glass: Doing it this way will prevent the glass from getting hot too quickly and breaking.
Older children will enjoy glass painting. if I can manage it anyone can!
Simply pop in a tea light and you have your gift.

As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

Visiting from A little bit of everything! Love the tea light holder!
We’ve never tried glass painting but would love to give it a go and have loads of left over tea light holders that we can re-purpose! #MischiefandMemories
You should definitely give it a go

Thanks for your kind words, Annette
My daughter used a Gu pot to make a tealight holder for Christmas at school and we have loads in the cupboard so is definitely a good idea for gifts!
That sounds great, Laura
