As a former, early years practitioner ( Ofsted registered child minder) myself. I have experience of parents coming to visit me for prospective care of their children and a few had no idea of what to expect and therefore, had no thoughts on what they should ask me: I always helped them out by telling them what I knew they would need to know, plus some other points that they may also want to know about me, my setting and how I worked.
So I know that this book will be really helpful to many parents and carers looking for provisions for their children.

The book has 104 pages of useful, valuable information that is written and explained in a way that everyone should be able to understand and benefit from:
For example; there are pages for parents to fill in before going to visit different settings, which will act as a reminder of what they need to ask when they arrive.

Then there are pages to fill out after visiting various settings ( parents should visit as many different and types of settings as possible, as each one will offer something different and it’s vital to find the correct one for you and your child’s needs).

Having it all written down will make the final decision easier as parents can use their notes to compare the different settings.

Something that never happened to me was being asked about my staff( as I worked alone, in my own home), but as nurseries will have several members of staff; and some child minders do employ assistants. It is equally important to find out as much as possible about them too.

The book also offers pages for asking questions and making notes about education, meal times and different policies: Behaviour management, especially.
At the back of the book there is an extremely useful glossary explaining some of the words that parents may hear being used while visiting different settings.
Disclosure: I was gifted the book for the purpose of this review, but all opinions are my own.
I am highly recommending this book for everyone who is looking for a childcare setting for their child/ren
