Review of Taste’n’tell

Taste ‘n’tell is a series of 10 books designed to help children who are fussy eaters to eat more fruit and vegetables

The unique thing about the taste’n’tell books is that each book has a clever plastic pot with a lid  to put samples of the food for children to try.

Book 1- discovering fruit with Holly honeybee;

This book is made from really good quality thick cardboard that will stand up to years of handling by children.

The book has colourful photos of the fruit  making it look appealing and tempting for children to taste.

The text on each page is written in rhyme and encourages children to open the pot and try what is inside. Book 1 is aimed at children aged 12 months and over.

Book 4- discovering vegetables with Veggie vole is aimed at slightly older children 1- 5 years, again the book is made from quality materials and the text is written in rhyme making it fun.

Along with  the books  comes with an instruction booklet for parents and practitioners to get the most from the products.

There are also taste’n’tell sheets of stickers

and a sticker table to put them on as a reward for tasting the food.

My eldest son wouldn’t try fruit and vegetables when he was young. I am sure that taste’n’tell would have helped me to persuade him to try them.

Taste’n’tell would be an asset to early years settings ( there is a reading, eating, learning nursery poster available).

I highly recommend taste’n’tell  to everyone.

Disclosure: I was sent a taste’n’tell starter pack for the purpose of the review but all opinions are my own.

Books can be purchased with the plastic food pod, or without, prices vary accordingly

Additional stickers and replacement food pods are also available buy them here

As always questions/comments are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. I think these books are amazing. Lots of children struggle with eating fruit and veg especially veg.the sample pots will make it fun to learn about the different food offered to them. Another very interesting review Karen

  2. Although I can’t really see why these books would make tasting new foods more appealing, it’s still an interesting concept. And if it actually works, that would be fantastic! It would be interesting to hear from someone who’s actually used them with a child who’s not keen on their fruit & veg. #GlobalBlogging

  3. What an interesting concept for a book! I love how you can put the food in the pot to taste it. #kidsandkreativity

  4. What a great idea! There’s nothing more frustrating than having a fussy eater, it can be very worrying too. This is a great way of bridging the gap, not making it an issue and making it fun to try new things. #KidsandKreativity
