Review of you can call me Katelyn

This wonderful hardback children’s picture book is perfect for me to review, as I have a granddaughter , called Katlyn, she spells it a little differently (without the e) most people in England spell it Caitlin.

The book is written by Kerri.T. Collins and the beautiful illustrations are drawn by Marcia Adams Ho

.

The tale is of a girl who doesn’t like the name that her parents chose when she was born, so she takes the plunge and changes her name to Katelyn.

The book will teach children to tell the truth if they are not happy with something and maybe inspire them to make the necessary changes.

I love this book and so will my Katlyn , the colouring picture at the end of the story is also perfect for her because she loves art.

You can call me Katelyn is a hardback book with amazing illustrations printed on a really good quality paper which will stand up to hours of reading without becoming dog-eared.

This book could have been written with my granddaughter in mind but children everywhere will enjoy it, I’m pretty sure.

You can call me Katelyn is published by Kerit Collins and retails at £14.99, it is recommended for children aged 5-6 years.

Buy it   from www.ketcollins.com

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. It must be awful to have been given a name that you really don’t like. The book is so different to the type of subjects normally used. Some of the children’s names that I’ve heard of recently are just ridiculous. Another interesting topic Karen .

  2. What a really good idea for a book, so many people are unhappy with the name they are given, that’s why it’s always good to give them something that can be shortened. I was Anne-Marie, but most people called me Anna, then when I was a teenager I was just Anne. I recently dug out my birth certificate to discover I did not actually have a hyphen in Anne-Marie, despite my Mum always spelling it that way. How weird that was.

  3. I love buying my neice ans nephew things with their names on and they would love a book named after them. Not sure about the colouring page though, my little ones would probably want to redesign other pages too 😲

  4. What a cute little book to read! It’s great to encourage taking ownership and making decisions!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. sorry for the late comment but I’ve been sofa surfing due to house renovations!

  5. That’s an interesting concept for a book. When I was a little girl I hated my name too. As I grew older though I grew to love my name. Though it’s not my favorite. Could have used this book when I was little 🙂 #abitofeverything

  6. Such an interesting topic, we deliberate and choose our children’s names so carefully it such a shame if they don’t like them! We have nicknames here, Stan the man, Jimbob Squarepants and E number 3!! Great message from the book though about speaking up, trust and being proactive! #KidsandKreativity

  7. My daughter for a while didn’t like her name. However now her best friend has the same name as her (Isla), obvioulsly she wouldn’t want to be called anything else! They love being referrred to as ‘The Islas’. Thanks again for linking up to #KidsandKreativity
