The need for green; children’s book and sensory box review

When I came across this on social media I knew instantly that it would be a great fit for my blog theme.

The pink box arrived with a sweet, neat, green bow on the lid, with the book tucked neatly away inside.

The book is a hardback with a striking front cover, enticing readers to want to investigate further.

.

Jade and her mother both have autism and the girl is at her happiest when she is outside in the garden; discovering objects and nature of different colours and textures.

Inside the sensory box I discovered a treasure chest of tactile, shiny, smooth and even some glittery products that will delight any child, whether they have autism, other special needs or not.

Also in the box are stickers a, bookmark saying positive things about autism, hand gel filled shapes( tactile), , moss covered pebbles, a fidget toy, paints and paint brush, shapes covered in shiny sequins ,bubbles to blow and my favourite a tiny colourful drawstring bag of smooth, shiny pebbles of different shapes and colours.

The book tells the lovely story in riming text of what happens when Jade meets a new friend from next door.

Disclosure: I was sent the products for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

The need for green is written by Nicole Krashin; a mother of an autistic child ,herself.

The beautiful illustrations covering every page are by Lady Bruniere.

The book retails at the equivalent of £14.32 for a hardback the equivalent of£12.05 for a paperback.

The sensory box is currently included for free with the first100 orders placed through the author website.

It is recommended for children aged 4-8 years ( as the box contains some small items there could be a choking hazards for very young children.)

Summer and Harley both aged 10 enjoyed helping with the review and they both agreed that the sensory box and book were really good!

I can’t speak highly enough about both this book and sensory box.

Children everywhere would love and benefit from both the book and box, regardless of whether they have special needs or not.

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time

Karen

  1. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and review The Need for Green and the sensory box. I am truly grateful for the care you put into sharing both the story and the experience behind it. Seeing the photo of the little girl reading the book nearly brought me to tears. Moments like that remind me why this story was written in the first place. As an autistic author and parent, it means the world to see the message reaching children and families. I will always be grateful that you took the time to share it with your readers.

    1. You are very welcome Nicole if you write anything else in the future I would gladly review for you again
