The pony series; children’s books review

I came across this series of children’s books on Facebook and as I have always been horse mad, I knew that I would enjoy reviewing the books.

The books arrived tied up in a beautiful purple ribbon with a purple rosette on the front.

Julie kindly sent me 3 of her children’s books:

Ed’s grumpy day:

Ed is a New Forest pony, living amongst a herd of wild ponies and the many human visitors to the forest.

Read how Ed manages when he wakes up feeling grumpy one morning.

The delightful tale is about friendship and helping one another, the story could help any children who have problems coping with their own emotions.

Fudge saves the day:

Fudge is a Dartmoor pony owned by a sweet girl that he loves very much.

In this book readers learn how Fudge protects his rider when they come across a group of noisy dogs who frighten her.

Fudge’s great escape:

In this third book 0f the series we learn more about Fudge ( who was the author’s pony when she was growing up).

Fudge was a great sometimes , mischievous character and in this book we learn about Fudge’s adventures after he has learnt to open gates!

Disclosure: I was gifted the books for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

I absolutely adore all 3 of the above books, as a lover of all things equinemyself, I found them a great read, so I can confidently say that children will also love them.

Each of the books have a bunny rabbit on every page encouraging children to look for it.

The bright, vibrant illustrations also provide lots of opportunities for children to point out things encouraging colour recognition and number and counting skills ( there are illustrations where children can be asked to count the chickens ,dogs or flowers.

The pony series of books are written by J.A. Frost and Corrina Holyoake has illustrated them perfectly!

The books retail at £7.99 each and are recommended for children aged 4-8 years, but as a former registered child minder I know hat much younger children would enjoy and benefit from sharing them with an adult.

As always questions and comments are welcome/

Until next time.
