In the olden days when I was a child, we didn’t have electronic gadgets, such as iPads and video consoles to keep us entertained.
Instead children tended to play outside when the weather allowed and we amused ourselves with games like hopscotch ( by simply chalking out a grid on the pavement and using a stone).
.
, we made up our own version of hide and seek with the neighbours children, that we called block 1, 2,3.
On rainy cold days we used wool to play cat’s cradle.
or made our own fortune teller from a piece of paper.
Boys living nearby favoured marbles.
.Or enjoyed annoying the girls with their home made catapultes.
Children now would benefit from playing some of the old fashion activities that I enjoyed, I’m pretty sure: Hopscotch and skipping provides a good way to excercise while having fun.
Hw about this for a different way of skipping?
As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

I also remember this, but also, unfortunately, my generation was among the first to grow up in front of a screen.
Absolutely, Michele, thanks for your comments
I can remember playing almost all of these, including marbles but I didn’t have a catapult!! #PoCoLo
Nether did I, June, thanks for your input
I love making fortune tellers when I was a little girl. I actually made one with my daughter the other week and she loved playing. It makes me sad to see that games like these are not something kids like the play with today. It’s all about the gadgets now, which is sad. Children want to grow up so fast these days. Thank you for linking up with #KCACOLS and we hope to see you next time.
I made the fortune tellers with the children when I was a registered child minder, thanks for your comments, Kelly-Anne
They we’re also a great tool for learning during homeschooling.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Kelly-Anne
So much love for this post! We did all of this too! And still regularly hopscotch with my kids. (Not sure I have really grown up yet!!) #KCACOLS
That’s great, Martina, thanks for stopping by
I just got together with some of my childhood friends and we were talking about how much time we used to spend just running around the forest. I’m happy that my daughter and her friends seem to enjoy being outside as much as they can too. ( for now ) #kcacols
Thanks for sharing your experience, Jeremy
I always had a piece of elastic in my pocket for school.
Thanks for linking with #pocolo
For a catapult?
I loved elastics. And the string. My daughter never got into it. The chatterbox and hopscotch tho….
Thanks stopping by, Lydia

And also #KCACOLS
I used to play all these games. My favourite was the cats cradle which I hope to introduce to my children. My kids do currently enjoy playing hop scotch and making the paper fortune tellers. Thank you so much for joining us for #KCACOLS and we hope that you’ll come and join us next time.
That’s lovely, thanks for your comments, Dana and I will be back next time for more #kcacols
