This summer even though the covid19 restrictions are slowly being lifted, more families will be holidaying in this country and weather permitted spending many days on the beach.
While adults may be content with sitting enjoying the sunshine and getting a tan; children often become bored.
These are my ideas for keeping them entertained:-
When I was a child, my sisters and I used to help ‘the donkey man’ on the beach by leading the donkeys as they were giving rides to children.
Read more about this here
I can also remember getting pebbles ( from the pebble ridge that this beach had) and pretending that they were fancy cakes by decorating them with tiny shells and bits of seaweed.
Rock pooling is great fun and educational too, always keep a close eye on children when they are near water.
Collect shells and pretty pebbles/ stones.
Kite flying is great on the beach because it is often windy enough to keep the kite in the air.
Sandcastle building is always popular. I have memories of my dad making us a boat to sit in out of the sand.
Burying a family member will amuse children
.
Get children to search for a stick to use to write in the sand
.
If it’s warm enough who can resist a paddle in the sea?
Or hire a board and try a bit of body boarding
.
At the end of the day when most people have left extend your beach visit by taking a stroll along the sand and climbing the sand dunes will get everyone using leg muscles and blood pumping.
If the weather is hot don’t forget to stay sun safe here
The beach is also great for using out of season too here
As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

We LOVE the beach. We have several lakes nearby and frequent them often. My kids create their own games in the water and sand. I can’t wait to take them to an ocean, though. #KCACOLS
Thanks for reading and taking the time to share your experience, Kendra
I’d always take kites on holidays to fly on the beach….really must do that again. Even if the kids are no longer interested. Very zen….#Mischiefandmemories

Building sandcastles, kite flying and going for a paddle are always favourites with us on trips to the beach. I’ve never tried rock pooling but would love to do that with the kids. #KidsandKreativity
Rock pooling was one of the favourites when I was a child minder, it’s really educational learning about what we found, you should definitely give a go, Louise
I would love to try body boarding, and some other water sports too! Not sure my son would fancy it (or be able to), but I think he’d love to watch me making a clown of myself, ha! 🙂 x #KidsAndKreativity
