Kayleigh, a registered child minder asked for this post after she was finding it difficult to calm the children in her care when they came in from the garden’hypo’.
My biggest tip for stopping children being really nosy; was given to me by a school teacher.
She told me that trying to shout over them was hopeless. it’s better to talk really softly, she added, That way the children have to be quiet to hear what you’re saying ( and you could be saying something that they wouldn’t want to miss out on, such as who wants an ice cream. or something similar).
I tried this and it really does work.
Other tips are to ask the children to lie on the floor and put on some calming music.
There are several action songs that involve children laying down,
Sleeping lions, sleep little bunnies and one that I have only just come across called waking cats( were childtren pretend to be a cat waking up they stretch, yard and then mi-ow before getting up slowly).
Other children’s action songs here
If none of the above seem to be working remember to breathe, Kayleigh: Take a big breathe and count to 1o, then try again.
Please share your tips for helping a group of children to calm down.
As alwaya questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

Great tips, I have found talking softly works even just with my couple of children. Trying to mimic what you would like them to do seems to work better for us. Thank you for visiting Tell It To Me Tuesday!
Again, Iwlarkema, thanks for your kind words and for sharing your expereince
