Victoria, from Brooks Books, an independent Usborne partner, sent the following book:

That’s not my dog…

As soon as I opened the package I instantly fell in love with the book!

As a former outstanding Ofsted registered child minder( sadly forced to give up due to health issues) I fully understand and apricate the value and benefits of good books to all children, including babies.

This particular book is absolutely perfect for the youngest of children: It has glossy thick card pages; making it suitable for wiping clean of sticky fingers (and any baby dribble as babies do explore with their mouths as well as fingers and hands.

The board pages are thick enough for tiny hands to turn the pages, which helps with developing fine motor skills and hand-to-eye co-ordination.

The 5 pages are a delight as each one has a different textured patch within the picture.

From a hairy tummy, shiny tag and a rough nose. Children will adore learning as they feel each new one; developing sensory skills

There are also loads of opportunties throughout the book for asking children to find things ( such as different animals, flowers and insects; helping to encourage and strengthen communication and language skills, as well as opportunities for counting and learning colour recognition.

The book which is part of the Usbornetouchy-feely books is written by Fiona Watt, the amazing illustrations are by Rachel Wells and Non Figg has done the designs.

Disclosure: I was gifted the book for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

As I have already mentioned I am obessed with this book so am therefore recommending it to parents, grandparents and early years practitioners everywhere.

That’s not my dog retails at £6.99 making it fantastic value for money!

It can be purchased along with many. mamy other amazing children’s books from Brooks Books https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61579618799095here

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.
