Kerrie, an independent Usborne partner was kind enough to send the following books for review:
THAT’S NOY MY TRAIN…
.

This cute little sturdy board book is just perfect for young children’.
It has a detachable strap that can be fastened to a child’s buggy, pram, car seat or high chair (meaning that parents and carers won’t have to take part in a children’s favourite game of throwing something on the floor and waiting for it to be picked up so they can throw it again!)
The book has different textures on every page helping to develop fine motor skills and the bright, vibrant illustrations provide opportunities for encouraging communication and language skills.
The book retails at the great price of £4.99 and is aimed at children from birth ( I believe that children are never too young to enjoy and benefit from books) to around 5 years of age.
Any children with younger siblings would enjoy sharing it with them. I’m sure.
MUMMIES LOVE HUGS:

Again this book is made of thick card.
The front cover has a cut out section of a child and follows it right through the book.
The text is rhyming making it even more enjoyable and as children maybe able to predict the next word; it gives them confidence when learning to read.
Throughout the book there are bright, colourful illustrations that provide talking points to develop communication and language skills, as well as learning colour recognition.
I particularly like the fact that the illustrations show people of different cultural back grounds and children wearing glasses ( it’s always reassuring to children to see someone who represents themselves).
The book retails at £7.99 and is recommended for children aged 1 to 5 years.
FINERTRAIL ANIMAL MAZES:

his is my favourite of all the books.
It’s unique selling point is that it has a finger trail on every page which develops hand-to-eye co-ordination and fine motor skills; vital for when children start mark making and writing letter formations.
The book retails at £9.99
Disclosure: I was sent the books for the purpose of this review but all opinions are my own,
I. can’t speak highly enough about these truly wonderful books.

This is my favourite of all the books.

Skills that are vital for when children start mark making and the beginnings of writing.
The awesome illustrations provide opportunities for imaginary skills to be explored and for asking open ended questions.

(meaning that parents and carers don’t have to embark in one of young children’s favourite games of throwing something on the floor and waiting for it to be picked up so that it can be thrown again)!
The book is made of card meaning that it will stand up to any rough handling by tiny hands and fingers ( or mouth and teeth).
Each page has a different texture for children to explore, encouraging the devilment of fine motor skills as well as bright, vibrant illustrations that provide opportunities for developing communication and language skills and asking the child open ended questions.
The book retails at the very reasonable price of£4.99 and would be suitable for the very youngest baby( children are never too young to benefit from and enjoy a suitable book in my opinion) to around 5 years of age.
Any children with a baby sibling would enjoy sharing this book with them, I’m certain!
MUMMIES LOVE HUGS:

This book has a cut out shape of a child on the front cover which follows the child right through the story.
The text is rhyming making the book even more enjoyable and could help children with learning to read in the future as the rhyme makes it easy to predict the next word, giving children confidence.
Again this book is made from card and has some wonderful illustrations to encourage language development as well as colour recognition.
This book retails at £7.99 and would be great for a wide age range of children’
FINGERTRAIL ANIMAL MAZES:

This is my favourite of the books,
The unique selling point that this book has is the amazing finger trails on every page; the book asks children to start at a certain point and use the finger trail to go to the finish.
This exercise will help with hand-to-eye co-ordination and to develop fine motor skills ( vital for when children start mark making and writing.
Once more the book is made of a thick card and is jam packed full of delightful, colourful illustrations, providing opportunities for creating imaginary development, child led play as well as communication and language improvement;
