Usborne true stories Ghosts; children’s book review

With Halloween on the horizon, this is the perfect book for children who want to hear about spooky ghost stories!

I have been a huge fan of Usborne books for a number of years: I read and shared them with my own children and with the children that I cared for when I was working as a registered child minder.

So when I was given the opportunity to review one of their newer titles I jumped at the chance!

The front cover of this hardback book has a striking image of a ghostly figure, which entices the reader to want to investigate the contents.

The book has 128 pages over 11 chapters ; each chapter tells a different tale all of which are based on actual reports by people who believe that they have been haunted by ghosts.

Every chapter ends with an update on what happened after every reported event: Have they really had an encounter with a ghost or is it all a figment of imagination? The reader will make up their own mind on this.

At the beginning of each chapter there is black and white image relating to the individual story.

Disclosure: I was sent the book for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

This intriguing book could be the solution of tempting any reluctant children to gain a life long love of literature and for that reason I highly recommend it to parents and carers.

It would make a great addition to book shelves everywhere.

Ghosts is aimed at children over the age of 9 years and retails at £7.99

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.
