This is a selection of Valentine crafts from ichild>-

HAND ON HEART VALENTINES CARD;

A great craft foe early years, as most children are happy to have their hand drawn around. Simply draw a heart shape ( or use the downloadable template) in the centre of the hand and ask the child what message they would like written, for example, I love mummy or daddy or a pet, cut out the hand shape and stick onto folded card to create a unique Valentine card.

SCRUNCHIE VALENTINE HEART;

This is suitable for the tiniest fingers, helping to develop fine motor skills; All that is required is a piece of card, tissue paper, scissors and glue. Cut out a heart shape , then encourage the child to screw up tiny pieces of tissue paper and stick onto the heart until it is covered,

VALENTINE WREATH;

Cut the centre from a paper plate, then decorate the rim with lots of different sized hearts ( ichild have hearts already coloured or blank templates available to download).

MAKE A HEART CRAFT;

This is a little more difficult than the above crafts, so would suit older children, who need to cut out and fold the hearts to make an effective Valentine decoration.

HEART MOBILE CRAFT;

Use a coat hanger to hang hearts to create a Valentine decoration.

All of these crafts and more are available to download from ichild, many are free. Parents and practitioners, especially child minders, with a range of children of different ages will find these great for keeping children entertained, while also covering the expressive arts and design early learning goal.

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.
