A friend has suggested this post, after we were chatting about after school activities, she has a daughter who likes to do cooking with her mother in the evening and as I have only got boys ( who are now grown) she asked what boys like to do after school apart from getting muddy and playing video games.
My sons did like to sit in front of a screen which we had to limit sometimes, to stop them getting addicted to it.
Addicted to tablets here.
My eldest son went to a local football club once a week for several years.
During wet weather all my sons liked playing darts on an old board that we hung up in the garage, this was not only fun, but was also great for practising their maths skills when working out the scores.
I was interested to here what boys like to do now, so I put the question onto social media: One friend said that her son enjoyed cooking. .
.And sometimes chose to ride his bike.
Another told me that her boy spent time riding his scooter or skateboard.
Other friends commented that their children had been going to organised groups like the cub scouts, but the lockdown had sadly put a stop to these activities recently.
Raising boys here
Please share with me what your own boys like to do after school ( my friend will be interested, as well as myself).
As always questions, comments and topic suggestions are welcome.
Until next btime.

I only have a little girl, but when we get home from nursery she is so exhausted that all she wants is dinner and a little chill time with her iPad and maybe her favorite toys. Then its a quick bath and bed, before we get up to do it all again 🙂 #mischiefandmemories
That sounds lovely, thanks for sharing with me, Shelley
I have a 3 year old girl and by the time she’s finished preschool she’s so tired. We usually call to visit grandparents on the way home, have a snack and then head home for dinner, bath and bed. I think as she gets older she’ll have more after school energy so we may look at brownies for her as I think she’d really enjoy that.

My boys fled to the great outdoors as soon as they could. Even in winter, they found lots to do. When the weather was bad, they played with Lego or Lincoln logs.
Thanks for sharing your experiences, Michele
I think cooking is a good thing – I think it’s the parents who gender cooking, not the children.#KCACOLS
I think you are right, Lydia, I once heard of a father who objected to his son playing with a toy kitchen!
Ahh it’s great to see cooking with children being scheduled in after school. I think with the amount of homework they get, it can be tricky to fit much in at all. Thank you for joining us for #mischiefandmemories
Absolutely, Annette, thanks for having me as a part of your linky
My boys have some screen time after school but like being outside wielding a sword or looking for insects. Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories
That’s great, thanks for sharing, Laura
My boys do tend to hit the screens at some point after school, but they also play football and go swimming covid permitting #MischiefAndMemories
Good all round activities, thanks for sharing
I think it depends more on the individual child what they enjoy doing after school, rather than their gender 🙂 Both my girl and boy love a park trip or a bit of chillout time watching TV or just some free play time 🙂 Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS 🙂
You are right, Hannah, thanks for pointing that out
Rowan has just recently been able to go back to Cubs. He loves it!
