Parents may wander what exactly they should put into their child’s bag when going to a registered child minder:_
When I was working as a child minder I asked parents to pack an extra set of clothes; in case of an accident ( I also kept a bag of spare clothes that my own children had outgrown for emergencies)
I also expected parents to supply nappies, wipes, nappy cream and sacks.
I liked children to bring a packed lunch , snacks and a drink, but some settings may provide food for a cost. more here
If a baby required bottles. I requested that parents sent them ready mixed.
Some parents liked to send their child with a special toy or comforter for naptime, but I wasn’t overly keen for children to bring their own toys. more here
Different times of the year required suitable outdoor clothing, for example, coats, hats and gloves for winter and sun screen and hats for the warm weather.
I had one parent who would drive to my house, so didn’t feel the need to put a coat on her child, however, when I had to collect another child from nursery the poor boy without a coat would have been cold if it wasn’t for an old coat that my son had grown out of.
Another parent was always forgetting to put sun screen in her daughter’s bag. so I added the cost to her bill, funny that after that she remembered to supply a cheaper brand.
One morning after a child arrived and I looked in her bag to put her bottles in the fridge, I discoverecd a lunchbox and flask. Soon after I recieved a phone call from her worried mother. Her husband had opened his bag at work to see 6 bottles of milk!
The parent simply collected both bags and we swopped them over.
She then bought different coloured bags at the weekend.
As all child minders are different, some may require different things from parents.

As always questions and comments are welcome..

Some great tips here. Thanks for sharing. I can imagine I’d be one of those parents who forgot the coat. #KCACOLS
Ha! thanks for your comment
This is really useful. I’m in the process of packing school bags for the new term and I feel like there’s a long list this term! #KCACOLS
Glad to be of help
Haha how funny to open your lunch and find 6 bottles! Sunscreen is a big one for sure as it does add up in cost! #KCACOLS
Thanks for reading, Becky
Sometimes its so important to say what they need to bring. I am quite organised so would send all these bits with my kids but regularly have kids come over with nothing sent with them! Thanks so much for linking up at #KCACOLS
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and experiences, Jad
This is useful and can’t beat a list x #kcacols
Thanks, Sam
It’s good that you were clear in what was needed, that should make it easier for both the parents and yourself. The nurseries that our son went to when he was little were a both a little TOO specific sometimes, regarding what type of outdoor clothing the wanted the children to wear etc. But for the most part, clear instructions are useful. Thank you for linking up with #KCACOLS! x
