As a former registered child minder, with a passion for children’s literature; World book day is something that I find interesting.
World book day was invented to get children, especially those from a disadvantage background, interested in literature, hopefully to encourage a life long love of books.
This year World book day is on Thursday 3 March.
Parents are asked by schools to send their children in dressed as a character from a children’s book.
When my children were in school we didn’t have World book day, but I used to dread them coming home from school with a letter asking me to dress them up as anything, be it for the Nativity play, or anything else. As I have little imagination for thinking of such things.
As time has moved on there are several costumes available to buy for children to celebrate World book day. Some clever parents, I’m sure will still come up with their own brilliant home made ideas for their lucky children.
Please share your creations with me.
As always questions and comments are welcome.
Until next time.

So do I,Lisa, thanks for sharing your thoughts
Times really have changed haven’t they! I was in the generation where every costume involved a bin bag and tin foil 🙂 I love World Book Day and all the fun it brings. Thank you for joining us for the #DreamTeam x
Thanks for sharing this and for having me, Annette
I hate World Book Day and the need to be exceptionally creative or buy a costume does not help those families that need support, nor do I feel that the event encourages reading. Thanks for joining in with the #DreamTeam
Oh, that’s fair enough! Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Laura
