Charles, the counting cat;children’s book review

The first thing that struck me when I received this book was the brightly coloured front cover.

Then to my delight, I discovered that the text is written in rhyme, my absolute favourite for children’s literature , as it not only makes the story more fun, but any early readers can often predict the next word; giving them the confidence to read more. The text is also very clear and large enough for early readers to see.

The tale is about Charles, a cat who loves to count .

.

The illustrations are vibrant and have lots of items that young children can be encouraged to point out and learn colour as well as number recognition.

Charles counts from 1 to 10: Then at the back of the book there are 10 individual number pages for children to count Which I feel are an added bonus to early learning.

Disclosure: I was gifted the book for the purpose of the review, but all options are my own.

The book is written and illustrated by R .J. Brown.

It is recommended for pre-school aged children ( but I can visualise older children sharing the book with younger siblings).

I love everything about this book and I would have found it invaluable when I was working as a registered child minder That’s why I am highly recommending it to parents, grandparents and carers everywhere.

A hardback copy of Charles the counting cat: A laugh and learn adventure retails at£24

As always questions and c0mments are welcome.

Until next time.
