Dudie Wudie and the itchy scratchy tree; children’s book review

I came across this book on social media and instantly knew that it would be a great fit for my blog theme.

Dudie Wudie is a lonely Shetland pony and while he is scratching an itch in his field one day a passing boy stops and soon becomes his friend. The story tells how this meeting leads to the pair finding even more friends.

They even visit a care home together.

As a horse lover, myself I really love this book and having a parent who was in a care home makes the tale even more significant to me.

The book is full of wonderful, bright illustrations, that include different ethnic minorities and someone in a wheelchair ( which is great for young children to see, as it helps to break down barriers).

Disclosure; I was gifted the book for the purpose of the review, but all opinions are my own.

The book is written and illustrated (beautifully) by Dee Thrussell.

It retails at £6.50 and is aimed at children aged 4 to 7 years of age (although I feel that a wider age range would benefit from it.)

I love everything about this book, the message it gives of friendship, the colourful illustrations and that it’s about a pony! What’s not to love?

As always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.
