Monty, a nose for trouble

This lovely children’s book tells the story of Monty, a chocolate Labrador dog; who, typical of his breed loves food which means he causes havoc at the school fair.

The book has a bright, colourful front cover and is written by Claire Owens.

It has 127 pages and 14 chapters; which are just the right length for keeping a child’s interest. The text is clearly printed meaning that confident readers will be able to read the book by themselves, equally children who are not so fluent at reading will enjoy having it read to them.

The book is aimed at children aged 5-9 years and retails at £7.99.

At the back of the book there is a photograph of ‘the real Monty’.

Disclosure: I was sent the book for the purpose of this review, but all opinions are my own.

I have a 9 year old granddaughter who I know will love reading this book, just as I have ( I couldn’t put it down) That’s why I am recommending this book to everyone.

I can’t wait to find out what Monty gets up to in the future.

AS always questions and comments are welcome.

Until next time.

  1. This sounds like a lovely book, most children love dogs and will enjoy reading it it brought back so many memories of our dogs both were Labradors.

  2. Aw. I do love labradors, even though I am not a doggy person. Love the fact that it is based on a real Monty! #KCACOLS

  3. This looks like a lovely first chapter book for young readers developing confidence both with vocabulary and fluency. Love the inclusion of the real Monty photo! Thanks for linking up with #MischiefAndMemories
