Review of Mobility Pannier Bag

July 13, 2018 Karen 23 comments

Since suffering a stroke just over 11 years ago, which has left me disabled. I have never been out alone, always going with my husband, sister or friends. I feel it is now time to ‘bite the bullet’, be brave and venture out alone. To do this I needed a bag that I can use easily with my one good hand (usually the person escorting me takes care of my handbag and passes anything that I need from it to me).

I contacted a few companies to try to find a suitable bag. Braunton mobility centre came up trumps, not only finding me the product that I needed but also delivered it to my house, for free.

The Devilbiss healthcare

pannier bag fits onto the side of a most wheelchairs, scooters and power chairs with a strong Velcro fastening and as it is secure it means that I am able to undo the zips easily with one hand. The bag wouldn’t fit on the right hand side of my electric wheelchair because of the controls but fits onto my manual wheelchair and the left side of my scooter, which I am still able to reach.

. The bag is just the right size for the items I need to take out with me, there is a large compartment big enough for my kindle and still room for a small amount of shopping, my sunglasses and compact mirror and the smaller pocket is perfect for my phone and money.

The bag also comes with a  shoulder strap meaning it can be used as a handy carry bag over the shoulder or worn around the neck.

The mobility pannier bag retails for £15.60 great value I would say as I now feel confident about taking back some independence .

Watch this space to read about how I get on using the ring and ride service with my electric wheelchair and new bag!

Disclosure: I was gifted the mobility pannier bag in return for this review, but all opinions are my own.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Tom at Braunton mobility centre for all his help and would recommend him and his shop to anyone needing mobility aids and advice. I feel that Tom went out of his way to help me.

  5. such a fab idea, would be perfect for my daughter when she needs to use her wheelchair, as i don’t like how her bag bangs into me when i’m pushing her and i’m always worried it could get stolen when we sit in a cafe #pocolo
