Winter children’s activities and crafts to suit all ages

Regular readers will know that I have worked with ichild for a number of years.

This is a selection of their winter activities and crafts which will be suitable for a variety of different aged children:

Winter olympic wordsearch:

This is great for alder children, there are 12 winter Olympic themed words to find. The answers are at the bottom of the page, if needed . These can be folded out of sight while during the wordsearch, if desired.

Dormouse template:

Even very young children can have an attempt at creating their dormouse as it can be simply coloured, or stick different coloured materials onto the picture, or just experiment with finger paints.

Winter camourflage:.

The sheet has pictures of 6 animals whose white fur camouflages them in the snow.

Use this as an opportunity to develop communication skills by asking cjhildren if they can think of any other animals who are camouflaged. They can then draw their thoughts.

Cut, colour and count:

Another activity for younger children, who can colour and then count ( with help, if needed) the different images, which are winter related.

There is the option of using another download with numbered squares ( 1 to 1o) so that children can cut out ( helping to master scissor control) and stick the images into the correct numbered square, encouraging number recognition.

Make a snowflake decoration:

All that is needed are store cupboard essentials; lollipop sticks, glue, glitter and white paint.

Children can get creative by decorating the lollipop sticks to make a snowflake decoration.

All of the above and many, many more, in a wide variety of subjects can be found here

As always questions and comments are welcome. You can also subscribe, if you wish by entering email in relevant box in left side bar.

Until next time.

  1. Karen, how DO you think of all these things? Kids need this sort of stimulation rather than more time with electronics! #pocolo (PS You need to add a link to your blog on your Blogger profile so that when you leave a comment on someone’s blog and they click on your name they can then find your blog. I just happened to know where I could find you! 😊)

    1. These are not my ideas, Jen I work with a company called ichild ( wwq.ichild.co.uk) and promote their activities and crafts I’m pretty sure that there is a link to my blog on my profile but will double check right now
